Pat Review.....Finally

Ok, I am sorry. I lied. I really wanted to get a review written on Monday but I am just now getting a chance to get to it. Please forgive me. It certainly isn't because I have forgotten about the weekend.

I must start at the begining.....

I planned this weekend as soon as I saw the date. I knew that my "Pat" buddy Sarah would have to be included. I even invited my husband, figuring that he would love that Wade Bowen was opening for Pat. Turns out that opening day of gun season was more important to Dan at the moment so that left me with an extra ticket. Without pausing I knew exactly who needed to come with us. The ONE person who always complains that she never gets to go. Terri!

The weekend actually started out Friday evening with our monthly craft night at my church. I ended up being a perfect way to start because I was going through pictures from all my past Pat Green shows. It is hard to believe I have been a fan for so many years (6) and so many shows (33). The pictures really got me fired up! Sarah spent the night with me that night to make the morning easier. We picked up Terri about 10:30AM. She had to bring two suitcases because I didn't tell her where we were going or what we were doing.

The drive to Charlotte was full of music and laughter, an amazing lunch at a Mexican place we stumbled upon (their peach margarita's were awesome). We got to Charlotte in enough time to stop at Target for some concert "bling" before the heading to the hotel. When we left Target the sky was streaked with red clouds, it was beautiful.

..

After getting checked into the hotel and changing we met Jeff and Jennifer and had some dinner. (always a good idea if you will be drinking....) We ate at acool sports place called Julians. They had pool table and video games and tv's showing games. After dinner we headed to the venue, Amos South. A great place to see a show, and even getting there right after the doors opened the crowd was building fast. Jeff and Jennifer were wonderful and gave Terri and Sarah their M@G passes so that they could see Pat with me. The M@G got delayed several times and we didn't get to go back until after 10:00PM, but we did get to see Wade's whole set. He was great and the crowd was really into it.

How many times have I met Pat, and how much fun have we had? As usual his first question is "Where are the kids?". Like what am I...chopped liver? Anyway after giving him the letter that Hannah wrote and saying hello from Zach, and getting all the pictures, I had one more small request. That day just happened to be Jack Ingram's birthday. I made a sign that said "Happy Birthday Jack, wish you were here!" Pat held the sign while we got a picture with me and Sara and Terri. Pat also wrote a short, friendly note on the sign for Jack. I can't repeat what it said here. Maybe I will get a chance to give it to Jack when I see him in December. Terri has the picture on her camera (thanks Brad for playing photographer for us!) and I will post it when I get it.

The best thing about a late M@G is that by the time we got to the bathroom and worked our way up to the front (Thanks Jeff and Jennifer for saving our spots!) the show was ready to begin. And it started with a bang from the very first moment.

There have been many memorable shows, but this was one of the best! Pat was in fine form. Two of his sisters were there and he must have been showing off for them because he (and the whole band) was HOT!

I could never recall the set list but he did play Me and Billy the Kid, Take me out to a Dancehall, Here We Go, Baby Doll, Cannonball, Way Back Texas, Feels Just Like It Should, Wrapped, Southbound 35, Dixie Lullaby, Let Me and another new song. (Jeff and Jenn, what am I missing?) The crowd was really in it and singing along and having a great time! It was such a disappointment when the show was over. I did get a chance to talk to Chris (and tell him I had been listening to his old band X-rated Cowboys) and to see pictures of Brett's new daughter and talk to my favorite keyboard player (sorry Marc) Clay. I told Clay that I was getting tired of everybody picking on him in the video's. His response, "what do you expect? I am the piano player!". I did say we needed a good way to get even.....WE moved the party to the bar next door but because it was late the band didn't get to stick around very long. I loved the fact I got to say "see you next week" when they left. Terri, Sarah and I stuck around until they closed down the place. WE met a guy who procedded to tell Sara that he knew Pat Green. He pulled out his phone and said "here....talk to him." Of course it wasn't "OUR" Pat but I do wonder what Sarah said to the guy at 2:30 in the morning???? Last thinkg on our agenda. Breakfast. Terri wasn't quite shure that food was what her stomache needed and the first thing Sarah asked for was Bloody Mary....we settled for wafflesbut breakfast was fast because we were all about to fall asleep.

As usual the ride home was depressing....knowing that the fun was over. Except for me who gets to do it all again next week.

Now the best part of the sstory is that Terri said that I could not tell Krystal and Missy (two other friends who are going to Philly with me next weekend). She says the Krystal always one ups her so after the next Pat show Terri and Krystal will comopare stories and see who had the best time.

Ain't life great!
